Police Department

Valley City Police Department (VCPD) provides law enforcement services for the City of Valley City. VCPD provides the following services Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM:

  • Fingerprinting - $10 fee, requires photo ID
  • Issues Transient Merchant License-$1000 fee, proper ND business documentation/licensure is also required.
  • Issues Cat or Dog License-Licenses are available for $20.00. Proof of vaccination is required.  New animal licenses will be required in April 1, 2021 and will be good until the end of March 31, 2023.
  • Issues Kennel License
  • Overweight Vehicle Permit-A route for the load needs to be approved before the permit is granted.  Routes for the load are directed per road weight limit guidelines.a.  The fee for the ten percent weight exemption, harvest and wintertime, is $50.00 per month for fees paid on a monthly basis or $250.00 per year for fees paid on a yearly basis. Unused fees paid on a monthly basis are refundable. Unused fees paid on a yearly basis are not refundable.

    b.  The fee for an interstate permit is $10.00 per trip or $300.00 per 12-month period for unlimited trips.

    c.  The fee for special mobile equipment is $25.00 per trip.

    d.  The fee for engineering is $25.00 per trip.

    e.  The fee for faxing a permit is $5.00.

    f.  The fee for a single trip permit is $20.00 per trip.

    g.  The fee for a bridge length permit is $30.00 per trip or $150.00 per 12-month period.

    h.  The fee for a longer combination vehicle permit is $100.00 per month for fees paid on a monthly basis.

    i.  The fee for an over width vehicle or load that is 14 feet six inches [4.42 meters] or less is $20.00 per trip or $150.00 per 12-month period unless the vehicle is a noncommercial fish house trailer being moved by the owner, then the fee is $20.00 per 12-month period.

    j.  The fee for an overlength vehicle or load that is 120 feet [36.58 meters] or less is $20.00 per trip or $150.00 per 12-month period.
